Gourmets' week-end in the Ahr valley

Ahr Valley

The Ahr valley is famous for its mild climate and more than 1300 hours of sunshine per year. The Romantics once called the Ahr valley „the wildest daughter of the Rhine“, but today the river Ahr is tamed.

The Ahr valley offers on one hand excellent red wines and on the other hand excellent cooking. Choose between:

  • Jean-Marie Dumaine, VIEUX Sinzig: TV-cook and herbal pope
  • Brogsitter's SANKT PETER in Walporzheim, Germany's oldest restaurant  (1 Michelin Star)
  • Steinheuer's Restaurant in Heppingen (2 Michelin Stars)
  • or one of the many other gourmet restaurants.

Day 1

River Ahr

You travel individually to Bad Neuenahr, where you will stay in the Steigenberger Hotel, opposite of the casino.

After check-in you may stroll through the old part of the city or go for a walk along the river Ahr.

At the evening you will enjoy a dinner with corresponding wines which will be served to you by the sommelier.

After a good breakfast you may enjoy the wellness area of your hotel.

At 1:00 pm you go by train to a typical farm, where you will taste regional specialities and wine from the Ahr valley.

Depending on the weather, you may go by foot along the famous red-wine-path to one of the famous wine-makers for another tasting.

In the evening you enjoy an excellent dinner with selected wines in one of the top restaurants.

Day 3

Bad Neuenahr

After breakfast you will visit the lovely city of Ahrweiler: see the romantic half-timbered houses in the centre of Ahrweiler which are surrounded by the medieval town walls and visit Sanct Laurentius church.

You may then go home or stay for another night. We suggest as well to visit Remagen where you may see the ruins of the famous bridge at Remagen where now the Peace Museum is located. The bridge was destroyed March 17th, 1945.
